Amazon opens digital doors in the Netherlands

The originally American Amazon has announced that it is also coming to the Netherlands. In the course of this year, products will be available for sale through the site, which will thus emphatically compete with the Dutch bol.com.

In Germany, Amazon has been an integral part of e-commerce for a long time and is one of the largest and most popular marketplaces. Until now, Dutch buyers were still redirected to the Dutch-language version of the German site, but that is about to change.

More than 20 categories will be open to businesses and consumers, including apparel. According to an Amazon spokesman, 58 percent of the products sold through the site worldwide come from partners, with the rest coming from its own warehouses.

"We look forward to expanding the number of product categories," Alex Ootes, responsible for Amazon's European expansion, said in a note. "We are excited to now offer both large and small Dutch companies the opportunity to sell on Amazon.co.uk and our other European sites."

Dexport has been helping companies sell their products on Amazon for years in countries such as Germany, England, Italy, France and Spain, among others. Would you like more information about selling your products on Amazon? Then contact our advisors on 088 339 7678
